Manganese-rich member of the Axinite group containing manganese in place of iron as well as some additional manganese replacing some calcium. Tinzenite is recognized by the IMA as a distinct mineral species with the following chemical formula: (Ca,Mn) 2MnAl 2BSi 4O 15(OH)
